That rumor isn't true. Nick live action shows end after a set number of episodes (usually 60), which is set when they pick up the show. It is rare for the show to last longer (such as iCarly), however Drake and Josh ended with their 60th episode, right when it was planned to be ended when the series started.

And I doubt that if that rumor was true, that they would continue appearing on Nickelodeon shows at all, much less them appearing together in the Christmas movie a year later, or one getting her own show and the other appearing in episodes of other shows,
