The fruit, obviously. Now here's one: Is an orange an orange because it's orange, or is orange orange because oranges are orange?

I think the colour came first. Natural oranges have green skins but are orange inside. So somehow in my mind that means the colour came first.

Considering we have the internet it's pretty easy, the color was named by the fruit, the fruit was named by a sanskrit word for "orange tree"

I was gonna post something, but then i researched it, and I was completely wrong. Apparently the colour is named after the fruit.

Except this one is a serious question with a real definitive answer.

It's just a question of the etymology of the word Orange.

Universe, no, but outside the universe there is probably an infinite amount of space. Agree on the other part, that's one of the reasons i both love and hate to be human

• The amount of numbers that 'exist' for lack of a better term
• The value of PI (the decimal point is infinitely long).
• Time, or the nature of time at least.
• Any recurring decimal number (one third, two thirds, etc.).
• The gravitational mass of a singularity (the center of a black hole).
• The number of times you can divide a number by two.

The word "orange" is derived from the Sanskrit word for the orange tree "naranga". It then reached Europe through the Persian "narang" and Arabic "naranj". Through old French, it became "pomme d'orenge" then simply "orenge". It was first used as a term for the color in 1512 in a will. Before then, the color was known as "ġeolurēad" or "yellow-red".
