That's funny cause you're probably in the USA and it's probably one of those italian wannabes, or only have italian roots. I'm italian, living in Italy, I never got threatened by anyone in my life. Well of course, if you met someone from Rome or southern italy, then it's different. That's like the fucking jungle man, people get shot there. I live in the master pure northern part of the country, where (almost, due to the economical situation) everyone has a job and lives almost happily.

to be honest, I'm 50% Italian on my mom's side, and my great grandmother on my dad's side was a nazi. No joke. I always feel as though I'm fighting myself..

I'm 20, and still living with my parents (yes, I have to confirm you this, the habit of staying with your parents until you are 30 is very frequent here. It's hard to leave mom's comforts for us, and most of us can't even start living on their own due to money difficulties), plus I can see you're dutch. I like dutch people :> As soon as I can find a home to live by myself in, you are definitely welcome :>

It's funny because when my family gets together (We're all Italian) all of us are gesturing and moving around so much, it looks like everyone has tourettes.

I'm 20 as well and we pretty much have the same habit (age varries across the country).

I've been on vacation to Lago di Garda, twice to the Lago Maggiore and once to the Po-delta and visited Venice. I can honestly tell you I'm in love with Italy.

I'm glad you enjoyed the northern part of italy :D not many tourists actually do that (I still can't figure out why Lago di Garda is so full of dutch tourists :P) I can't deny that, in terms of tourism, you can pretty much decide any location here in italy, but i think that from Tuscany and below there's much more to see (if you're planning a beach holiday and stuff like that) I live pretty close to Milano, but I guess you didn't visit that :P

The Dutch are pretty much pack animals, going en masse to the French Riviera, Spanish Costa del Sol and what remains goes to Lago di Garda. It's silly.
The beaches don't really interest me, they're pretty much the same everywhere you go, I rather head into the old cities. c:

The closest I've been to Milano is probably Bergamo.

My girlfriend is from a town near bergamo so I know the place :D I like it, but the accent from bergamo is so funny i can barely hold a conversation with locals :')

Somehow, for some reason I didn't notice the accent. :P
It's a beautiful city, we went up to the old city by cogtrain.
