Charles Dickens here, let me help
Theres (at least) two facets to it, both of which have now almost become cliche to complain about. Some complain that it's destroying local economies and/or shutting down mom-n-pop stores when really it's more of an efficient adaptation to the changing times. Nobody except the stinkiest of hippies riots about iTunes closing down record stores or the Kindle and such closing bookstores, and I say that as both a vinyl collector and someone who still likes paper books.
But I digress; the other complaint is less to do with the company and more to do with the customers. It's usually a terror show going in there, it seems to be the gutter of western civilization. I don't consider myself incredibly attractive or intelligent, but every time I leave wal-mart I feel like Brad Pitt with Einstein's brain escaping some indiana jones shit.
I'll let anyone else feel free to pick up where i've left off if there is more (and there is). Something about wage slavery and unfair trade practices maybe.

Would you prefer us shamefully paying extra at Target?
Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Pfizer, and Coca-Cola aren't the problem, we are.
I was just in walmart and went into an aisle where I heard a young black couple explaining to their little girl that she shouldn't talk about people because it isn't nice and she wouldn't want people talking about her. I get further down the aisle only to hear a soldier in his camo fatigues still complaining to his trailer-slime wife about how "niggers don't have any respect."
