If you read the god delusion it is actually about the psychology behind religion, morality and christian fundamentalism. Not exactly about atheism albeit they do get mentioned.

Fiction is the form of any narrative or informative work that deals, in part or in whole, with information or events that are not factual, but rather, imaginary and theoretical. Unless you can present valid evidence of humans turning into salt or talking snakes then it is fiction by default.

Non-fiction is based on real life events and not on a story. So a book based on biology, psychology or science which talks about life itself is non-fiction. A book about religious philosophy is also non-fiction because it deals with real life philosophy.

So here is a simple chart for your tiny brain to comprehend.

The god delusion = Dealing with real life situations = non-fiction
A theologian book = Dealing with real life situations = non-fiction
A biology book = Dealing with real life situations = non-fiction
The bible = Talking about talking snakes and magic = fiction
Lord of the rings = Talking about orcs and magic = fiction

By your logic i can say lord of the rings is non-fiction.

I'm not so sure about that. I can't prove that these things happened, but I also can't prove that they didn't. Therefor, I don't say that they happened, and I don't say that they didn't. My actual argument about the bible is that It shouldn't be classified as fiction simply because you don't believe that the things detailed in it are not possible, and my reason for this will be stated in my next point.

That is not my logic at all. The reason LoTR is fiction is because the author decided to make up a story and write it, and he called it fiction because that's what it is.
The reason the Bible should not be called fiction is because it is a collection of stories and such that are statements about the authors' beliefs, and to call it fiction is simply to say that it cannot be true just because you don't agree with it.
I wouldn't call any religious text fiction, because they're not; they're expressions of opinion.

The burden of proof lies on the claim maker not the skeptic. You cannot prove a negative. I cannot disprove that the events in lord of the rings happened either but we still classify it as fiction.

The only one who is making a strawman is you. You claim it should not be classified as fiction because it's based on the authors belief but that's bullshit. By that logic i could classify cupcakes as meat because i BELIEF it's meat.

It's not an opinion that talking snakes don't exist, it's not an opinion that a wooden boat cannot carry over 5 million species, it's not an opinion that humans cannot be turned into pillars of salt.

The god delusion is non-fiction because it talks about real life situations, the bible is fiction because it talks about imaginary things that are not only physically and mentally impossible but also fail to carry the burden of proof, just like the lord of the rings.
