Being a soldier is a profession, not an honorary title. Why not wish fishermen away from home or ER doctors a merry Christmas?

Some Statistics:

Up to 15500 - 17400 civilians were killed in Afghanistan since the invasion began.
The killing in Afghanistan is not winding down: in fact the annual death toll has risen since the war began in October 2001, and according to the United Nations, more civilians died there in May 2011 than in any month since 2007. More lives are being lost as a result of war than when the Taliban was in control. The first half of 2011 saw the most intense fighting since the early part of the war.

Civilians are being killed by crossfire, improvised explosive devices, assassination, bombing, and night raids into houses of suspected insurgents. Unexploded ordnance from previous wars and from US cluster bombs continue to kill after the fighting stops.

I think it's important to know what's happening there and how pointless this invasion is.
Yeah I know I will get thumbed down for posting actual facts instead of praising and heroizing the war with it's governments puppets.

The Christmas truce was a series of widespread, unofficial ceasefires that took place along the Western Front around Christmas 1914, during World War I. Through the week leading up to Christmas, parties of German and British soldiers began to exchange seasonal greetings and songs between their trenches; on occasion, the tension was reduced to the point that individuals would walk across to talk to their opposite numbers bearing gifts.

I don't usually like these posts but the fact you said to soldiers everywhere I will. All soldiers fighting in pointless wars, wherever or whoever they are.. hope you have good holidays and these stupid wars all stop.

Merry Xmas from Fort Gordon

I've spent a Christmas overseas. It's nothing pleasant, but trust me when I say that y'alls support and word does reach us. It's not very close, but it's something. It will mean a lot to the soldiers.
