Yup, they were way overproduced at some point, lots of them out there, they normally come with a bayonet. Ammo is hard as hell to find where i live though, so may people have them.

Haha well they're only used if you get lucky, mostly just surplus and unused. Mine was found in a cabin on my uncle's land with an old Japanese rifle, both used in service.

Were they lost? I don't know how family goes about it, but i know that soldiers can pay the government to reissue prior medals, or something like that. My step-dad had it done for some of his Vietnam metals.

oh no not lost but my uncle has them. and he was supposed to let the younger generations have them or something, but there is a big fight with my family. huge divide between the older 3 boys and 3 younger girls, including my mom. i dont even remember but there are 4 medals and he was supposed to share but wont. and its sad because my grandpa passed when i was 12 from cancer.

Well again, technology has advanced warfare in an insane way. Compared to WWII where military intel came from guys sneaking through bushes, and your position was everything, snipers nowadays seem to be surprisingly tame, as they have superior intel, weapons, tech... everything!

WWI and WWII were awful for the number of lives thrown away, but the soldiers there impressed me more in some ways i guess

Back in the days of WWII, Snipers went out in the field with a pocket full of crackers and a rifle on their back. Nowadays, 100+ pounds of gear, a plethora of different optical devices and other fun gizmos.

(Real life Marine Rifleman) The things that separates us with Snipers are more complex that what you assume it is. We're fighting close quarters and have to train for something COMPLETELY different then what a sniper does. If a sniper was stuck in a close quarters fire fight like what we get stuck in then they'd be dead. No question about it. Happened before. If a riflemen was stuck in a snipers position we'd run away. Not because we're cowards because we cannot efficiently fire back at such a distance. We're battle harden shell shocked adrenaline junkies. A snipers is a calm, relax, and level headed soldier if he wasn't he'd fuck up his shot. Please don't compare apples to oranges when you have no damn clue. It really makes you look stupid.

Oh you misunderstand my statement good sir. I wasn't comparing modern forces! I was literally alluding to my gif, in which the difference between a Sniper and a Rifleman in WWII was the presence of a scope and a calm steady hand! I literally was talking about them using M1 Garands with scopes, nothing more. I have the utmost respect for you and any member of the armed forces!
