Everything in there is pure Tolkien except Radagast meeting them on the road and Azog surviving the Battle of Azanulbizar.

You've got to understand that Peter Jackson also wanted to incorporate the appendices into the book as well, plus it's a matter of people understanding the movie because a majority haven't read the novel.
