In society terms, being a villain is much more of a global phenomenon than being a hero. Think about it, who most often makes the news; people who do charity work, or people who murder?

The unfortunate fact is that you're just going to be well remembered and publicised by the media if you're a monster, because monsters are remembered for years to come;

Adolf Hitler, Jack the Ripper, Chairman Mao, Pol Pot.

Hearing about a good person on the news gives you a brief sense of "That's good" and then it fades, but if someone butchers another human being and hangs their body parts all over the shop then you can more or less guarantee a ******** of publicity.

When you look at it that way, it makes sense why they'd be the villain; they'll be remembered as a demon and not a depressed youth.

because if you kill them, they will play the victim
"oh no, our people are being killed! people dont like our message and want to silence us!"
then people will pity them and they will forever be an establishment to leech off society

Why not shoot both the curch AND the protestors.
Both parties win, everyone happy, ice cream for everyone.
