Made me think of this conversation from Babylon 5:
"An Ant.
I have just picked it up on the tip of my glove. If I put it down again, and it asks another ant, "what was that?"
How would it explain? There are things in the universe billions of years older than either of our races. They're vast, timeless, and if they're aware of us at all, it is as little more than ants, and we have as much chance of communicating with them as an ant has with us. We know, we've tried, and we've learned that we can either stay out from underfoot or be stepped on."

Well, an ant does have no quarrel with a boot.
This reminds me of what a friend told me about the debates over whether there is a higher power or not.
He said:
"There are an infinite number of planets out there, infinite forms of life with either greater or lesser intelligence than us. By using our understanding to figure out whether there is a God or not, we are actually being incredibly ignorant by assuming that the entire plane of existence we reside on bends to the logic of one race, out of the possible billions of races out there."

Everyone is having a religious shit storm and I'm just sitting here like
I don't think anyone can have a mother like his and believe in a higher power.

Great show. Great scene. Fucking love it.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot to add something to the religious debate which is going on down there: The most important message is in his last sentences: "I guess all we can do is live our lives with as much kindness and decency as possible"

that might be the difference between God and a Human
I personally don't believe in any god human beings have imagined, but I don't outright reject the possibility of a god-like force in the universe. The only thing I will say is that no human being has died and seen the afterlife for longer than a week and then been brought back to life to tell us what it was like and if there was a god. I don't know what will happen when I die but I guarantee not a single other human being that has ever lived does either, and since we all don't have the supernatural capabilities to find out until we die I'm just gonna cross that bridge when the time comes and live my life the way I see fit.
