MFW i took my girlfriend (who happens to love lotr) to the hobbit midnight premier and she was so afraid of being shot to death like in the batman premier that she puked and we had to leave before the movie was an hour in. Oh and I paid extra to reserve our seats.

Did you know there almost was another mass shooting at a Hobbit premier, a guy entered with a gun and was about to fire on the audience, but there was an off-duty police officer with a handgun was able to stop him first.

Here is Scotland, a legitimate dwarf/midget sat next to me with a fake white beard. Couldn't be happier.

MFW I went to the midnight premiere in Denmark, and the theater was 1/3 filled and the only guy dressed for the occasion had Gandalf's hat

Well, we're generally not that enthusiastic about midnight premieres, I guess. I usually expect a lot of people at premieres, so I will gladly wait a week if it means less people and noise. But yea. Grapes.

I actually happen to agree with you. Don't get me wrong, it is a good movie and I did like it, but it's just not The Lord of the Rings. I mean Jackson has two more movies so he may be able to redeem this, but I never would have made a The Hobbit movie. Having read all of the books, The Hobbit was just too much of a children's story for me to love it in the same way as the rest of the series. That being said, I enjoyed the movie and I will go to see the next two.

If you didn't enjoy the Hobbit book, why are you surprised you didn't like the movie ?

The book is very different in style and tone to the LOTR books, and I see it as a great thing that the movie follows this style.

I never said I was surprised. The movie was exactly what was to be expected. Aside from the cgi, that was always something the LOTR series tried to stay away from but the Hobbit just jumped into it.

Gotta agree with you on the CGI, the orcs in LOTR were ******* amazing to look at.. The details of the costumes were glorious!

But then again, the whole artwork is different in many ways than from LOTR. It's just a matter of getting used to the thought that it's a whole nother trilogy og a whole noher story. But I think I see where you're coming from.

Well that's part of my problem with it. The movies are being done so much like the Narnia series, it lacks part of what made it LOTR.

I don't know why the orcs and goblins all had to be done by cgi , I much preferred the makeup from the other films, there was also too much comedy
