how to revive him.

it respawns back where you first got it, atleast for me. i experimented with some overpowered gear and lots of rare ingredient poisons and managed to kill shadowmere many times, i used him to see if my poison worked correctly(sometimes the game doesnt register the effects of the poison if it is to big or has too many atributes.

i used the fortify restoration glitch and heavy enchanting for Alchemy and Heavy fortify enchantment potions. i dont focus on base damage as more i use Paralyze and freeze to leave the enemies. i am a magic potion creating thief, i find it quite fun and it keeps me at the exploration and survival level in skyrim for most of the game. i go around with basicly a stick with 5+min paralyze and 1600+frost damage W/ 100% reduced mana usage of all kinds of magics( 2 on each pair of clothes)
so using skyrims flaws i get a fucking great time in the game.

the possibilities are endless, its like morrowind again.

If you play it through steam, there's a mod in the workshop that adds a spell book to conjure shadowmere.

that or you could just download it somewhere else, 99% of the mods on the steam workshop are available on other places

In Oblivion, Shadowmere is a female. In Skyrim, Shadowmere is a male.

how do you know this

When Lucien gives you Shadowmere in the first game, he references the horse as being a female. I think it also might mention her gender in the guide, but I haven't looked in a while. When you get Shadowmere from the Brotherhood in Skyrim, the chick (Whose name I've forgotten) mentions that Shadowmere is a male. It's only mentioned once, and only by the use of a pronoun.

When you summon lucien's ghost and have shadowmere he says "ahh my old girl, how have you been." and shit like that

I assume that the first Shadowmere died sometime in the intervening two hundred years since Oblivion. Even though she was an essential character, and couldn't be killed unless you gave her the Horse Armour, I don't think she was actually an immortal horse.

Shadowmere can't be a mortal being since when you first get him in skyrim he forms from the black pool in front of the sanctuary. Like deadra he could be genderless

That could have just been a graphic choice. But no, Shadowmere in Oblivion is mentioned to be a mare. In Skyrim, he's a male horse. I don't know WHY this is, or HOW, but that's just how it is.
