Well, if you take the bible as a historical document, then it has many facts.
It talks about many historical events that are backed up by archaeology and such.
But even more so, the bible is a book of faith, faith is belief that requires no proof.
If you are a true christian, then you believe that Earth is just boot camp to see if you are truly good enough to enter heaven.

-Israelites were enslaved by Egypt and then escaped during a time of famine under Ramses
- There was someone named Jesus that lived about 2000 years ago that splintered Christianity from Judaism

I'm not familiar with that term, i it's anything like the theodice problem, where people have trouble understanding how there can be evil with a benevolent deity.
I am not a christian, but using what is said in the bible, this is my response.
The thing is, God isn't benevolent.
Have you looked at the old testament.
Pillars of salt, incinerating entire cities, slavery, plagues, famine, casting humans out, etc.
It comes down to the fact that Earth is not paradise, it is boot camp.
Good things happen to bad people, bad things happen to good people, people need to understand that God created this world, and gave us free will, and therefore by all logic, he would not intervene and anything that happens, is due to what we do, all he is, is a judge.
A judge does not stop the crime, he does not force the criminal to stop, all he does is decide whether the defendant is good or bad, and what their punishment is.

1 - He created us with free will, and therefore he judges us based upon our actions.
2 - If you are a christian, then you would think that Africa is a largely heathen land and therefore, they are being punished.

IF there were some higher being. I think it left humanity and all life to work and evolve on its own. I'm not Christian, but that seems like a logical belief. Giving people what they wanted would not let humanity learn that life is not a fairytale. Bad things happen, people just have to learn to adapt to it.
