I'm sure someone who's unfamiliar with the show is wondering, so here's a brief explanation.
This is from Fullmetal Alchemist. The main characters stay briefly with a single father, his daughter, and their dog. The father, an alchemist too, specializes in biologic transmutations. Pressured to produce something significant to keep his job, he fuses his daughter and dog together into that creature. All it says, at one point, is, "Da...ddy...? Why does it...hurt?"

Fun fact: After each manga chapter, the writer of FMA put an in memory of... page if anyone died. All characters, even the most loathsome villains, but -one-, went to heaven, the only one who went to hell being the scientist that created the chimaera out of his own daughter.
