What I noticed about our society is whenever something goes wrong, there must be a scapegoat. We need someone or something to point our fingers at and collectively say "it was your fault". And politicians use this as a platform to gain support for anti- whatever movements. Sometimes its video games, sometimes it t.v. and in this case its guns. The sad part about this whole mess is, there was no way to prevent it. And shootings like this will happen in the future as well and we have no way of stopping them. No matter what laws you pass or restrictions you place there will always be people who are absolutely crazy enough who want to hurt large numbers of innocent people.

What about all the guns that people already own? You're saying they should convict all gun owners after passing that law, which is technically unconstitutional, as you can't be tried for an action before the law passed?

Oh by the way, it is pretty easy. You think gang bangers actually buy their guns legally?

Fair enough, but if you have a semi-automatic M4 Carbine, you need to save up money. I assume he was planning this for a while, so if he really needed to, he probably could have found somewhere to buy it.

Guns, in my opinion, are very similar to religion. They have their benefits, but people use them as a tool to kill others. Then, instead of blaming the people, the tools are blamed. Heck, in Eastern Europe, getting guns isn't all that hard either, but you never hear about mass shootings like in the US. There are still gun related crimes, but it's never against children at school.

Also, people will kill people with whatever they have. A few years back, a man went into a yoga class and hacked up some people with a katana. In China, they are having a problem with people using knives to attack multiple people for no reason.

And what happens if someone breaks into your home and tries to kill you but you have no weapon to protect yourself with? Maybe to be allowed to buy semi-automatic rifles you need to pass a course, just like with a CCP, but that will also raise some problems. How do you define mentally stable? And with a solid definition, couldn't you essentially discriminate against whomever you want, including "mentally stable" individuals?

Honestly, right now, I don't think gun control will fix the issue. I just recently read an article that stated that mass gun crimes are not actually increasing in number, but with the extra attention on them, they are increasing in perceived risk. Increasing gun control is basically a technical solution to a non technical problem of mentally ill individuals. Unfortunately, not all technical solutions address the source of the problem but just the symptoms. The US will need to decide which they want to focus on and fix first: the source or the symptoms.

Personally I think the internet harvested this. I mean, how many basement dwellers can you compare to the socially awkward **** up that adam was? Quite a few, with the exception of the asbergers disorder or autism. It was just a dreadfully bad combination.
