It honestly depends on what you like. There are those that are bass oriented, loudness oriented, comfort oriented, detail oriented, etc.

well how about for bass mostly? my problem is i listen to alot of types of music, but bass seems to be the main component i like.

For bass, I think audiotechnica was a good company for that. Bose and Sennheiser are also good choices for bass but Bose I wouldn't recommend since their loudness isn't as great as Beats or Sennheiser. Bose just has one of the best noise isolation.

I've always liked Sennheiser for that. They make super good over-ear headphones for between 60 and 100 bucks that will spank the pants off of Bose and a lot of the big name brands. My personal favorites are the Shure earbuds. They're pretty expensive (mine were 400) but they sound incredible. That being said, I use mine as in-ear monitors for when I'm playing, so they're kind of a waste to just plus into an iPod.

hmm sennheiser. sounds german, where would i find them? they sound good, dont wanna spend so much money, but it would be nice to have some good headphones
