This is a true statement if you want to look it up. The catholic faith parted with a moralistic path and created hell as a fear factor around 1850. There is nothing spoken of hell in the bible and none of the the Christian faiths have a place where you are tortured for eternity. I will go down with my red thumbs and It's quite interesting how you jump to conclusions like that. I'm currently working on my masters in theocracy.

I'm pretty sure that Christian parents don't do this. My parents are Christian and the only time they ever threatened with god they said "If you don't obey me, you're going to have God to answer to, because he put us in charge and by disobeying us you're disobeying Him" I may be a Christian but it doesn't make me a jerk. Please understand this.

Both sides of my family are practicing Catholics and I've never heard this said.
I think this is just one of those things that is rarely if ever said, but Atheists have gotten it into their heads by getting all their information about religious people from Reddit and whatnot.

That's not even possible in the eyes of the church, they teach that you can't be held accountable for your actions until you've reached the age of understanding. So a parent that would say that has no idea what they're talking about.

Modern parents don't hit children at all, just take away their xbox for a day. Modern kids are swaggots, sluts, pussies, cant stand up for themselves, aren't strong or fast, and can't even talk to a girl.

A single example cannot be extrapolated to be a general rule.
An unscientific, biased observation cannot be made into a general law, either.

Your dad should have taught you about logic instead of beating you; you wouldn't advertise violence against children here and you wouldn't make such a botch of the job either.

Please. When it was common and socially accepted for parents to at least somewhat physically punish their kids, they learned lessons a whole of a lot faster. Oh ho ho if I don't do my job, my boss will take my xbox away. Nope. You'll get fired, lose your house, and live on the street. That's way worse than being hit. I'm not saying kick the **** out of your kid or anything, but the lessons I've learned the strongest are from when I was at least spanked. Teaches you to do what you're ******* told. No exceptions. Totalitarian dictatorships not only rely on people like you, people like you are in fact the foundation for any system of tyranny and structural violence.

I'm torn between feeling disgust and pity for you.
Stuck forever in a mindset of coercion and authority, the only way out the painful road of realizing what you were taught and told was wrong and lies.

I'm a 24 year old man with a wife I love, a double major in Chemical Engineering and Computer Engineering. I graduated from UC Davis and within the first week of graduating got a job where I was making 100k a year. I'm contributing to society by developing alternative sources of energy. My son is a strong young man who doesn't get pushed around. He does what he is told, and doesn't **** up. I got whipped or spanked by my father if I did something way out of line as a child, and it shaped me. Clearly I'm a twisted freak.

A child is not a possession or a pet; a child is an individual human being with a mind and a will of his own.

Talk and reason, negotiate as you would with any other person.
Forcing your will on someone else with coercion or even violence doesn't magically become right and acceptable if its against a helpless child, quite the opposite.

Yes, there is.
The first is submitting to pure sadistic impulses against helpless victims for sick pleasure; the second is the soulless brutality of emotionally dead husks in order to demand and enforce an authority they do not have or deserve and in their failure to lead by example cannot get otherwise.

And no, there isn't.
Both are physical violence against those so utterly dependent on you, both are unjustifiable displays of a tyrannic mind, both are destructive beyond belief to the psyche of the victims.

Should I ever let the psychopathy that is authoritarian parenting into my min, I hope someone will be there to take me to the mental asylum in a straight-jacket before I do damage that cannot be undone.

Violence against children because of frustration.

Ok for example a family member of mine or even me for a fact would not listen to reasonable words, or even accept communication. Sometimes a kid needs a swift kick in the ass.

Utterly wrong. The one who thinks employing violence against children is good the one in need of treatment.

Hitting children. How sick must one be?

In fact my brother for example needed a stern look and learned his lesson. The problem is everyone teaches everyone the same way... to bad it doesn't work like that

They don't do what you want them to, so you beat them until they obey?
Is that really your reasoning?

My mother is a teacher's assistant, and she works with mentally challenged students in high school.

There were two girls that my mother worked with, whom were born of incest (the parents were first cousins), and 13 brothers and sisters (whom they were often left to take care of all on their own. The family was very, VERY religious (but not in a good way, by any means).

There was one time in particular where my mother caught one of the girls lying, and the other twin replied with something along the lines of "We don't lie! Lying is a sin, and our mommy told us that if we were to lie, Jesus would come down and rain fire upon us.".

While I believe in God, and am religious myself, there are some times where the Christian community just makes me sick. NO parent should EVER teach their child something so...awful! Nobody should have to live in FEAR from something that is SUPPOSED to give you hope.

There are, unfortunately, far too many individuals of every religion that have a skewed view of the tenants of their own beliefs. These people lump in other legitimate members of whichever religion they belong to with them to make anyone looking on think that all the members of that religion are fanatics, zealots, insane, cultists, crazy, hateful, intolerant, ignorant, etc.

Unfortunately, based on the views of those very religions, those people are and should continue to be welcome members of that group. Unless we start excluding people from religions based on their personalities and mental capacity, this will continue to happen. Doing this, however, is exactly the opposite of the views of most religions. Therefore, most healthy-minded individuals of any given belief must simply "grin and bear" the undesirable individuals that are coincidentally the only ones that ever appear on the news "crazy-ing" it up.

Strange, isn't it?

Yes, both are child abuse, BUT, lets not all start blaming religion because a lot of people are too retarded to handle it (which in my eyes is quite the achievement, but that's beside the point).

Without religion, the woman in the right pane would still be a bitch. She'd just use different things to abuse her daughter with.

Religion isn't harmful. Dumb people are the cause here.

Religion is the excuse she uses to "make it okay", most people wouldn't have dared without something to "make it okay" with.

They would just find another excuse. People do bad things all the time whether they are religious are not. If she is using it as an excuse it does not make the religion bad, it just makes her bad. Many things can be twisted and warped to your own advantage.

Religious dogma is what corrupts the mind into thinking in absolutes and authority instead of relatives and voluntarism.
