yes, there are some bad pokemon designs, but every gen has them. grimer and muk are just piles of slime, same with ditto. zubat is a bat, koffing is a ball that spits out smoke, voltorb is a pokeball with eyes, ratata is a mouse, ekans is a snake (it's name is snake spelled backwards as well), diglett is a tube thing with eyes, dugtrio is just 3 digletts, meowth is a cat.
