The Lord of the Rings had to miss out some key notes from the book, whereas if my hopes and dreams are correct, this time he'll have the entire trilogy follow the book, to the letter. Quite frankly, I'm super excited, and super glad there will be 3 movies. This was my favourite book as a child, and the fact that Jackson is doing it, means it will be good. Plus, lets face it, three times the movie, three times The Hobbit.
