So. Any far cry players want to explain this game to me, in detail? And of course the series? (Plot, etc?) It seems nice but I don't trust the googles

You are Jason Brody, your friends and you go skydiving, but when you land you are taken captive by a man named Vass, a crazy psychopath, you and your brother are both in the same cage, you both manage to get out of the cage and sneek your way off the camp, but while looking at a map of the island your brother gets shot by Vass. You then proceed to run through the jungle trying to escape Vass and his men. You come to a bridge only to be met by a helicopter with one of Vaas's men shooting at the bridge, the bridge snaps and you fall to the water below and are pulled downstream by the current. You are then rescued by a man named Dennis Rodger's, he is an elite member of a resistance called the Rakyat that fight against Vass and men. When you wake up you see he has given you a new tattoo (it becomes your skill tree and fills in as you spend skill points). AND THATS JUST THE FIRST 10 MINUTES, if i were to try and explain the whole game in this much detail then it would be a 10 page essay.

The games don't follow on from one another its always been a new story, But in farcry 3 you play a guy whose gone on holiday with 2 of your brothers and 4 friends, at the start of the game you watch your holiday and the last thing you see is you and your friends skydiving, THATS when the picture pulls away and you're watching footage from a phone and you see you're in a cage tied up facing of of your brothers and the guy on the cover of the game is on the outside of the cage talking to you, you manage to escape the cage and run from the camp being shot at, you then fall of a bridge and a guy is helping you, the aim of the game is to free your friends unlocking skills up getting tattoos, any questions?

I just beat the game about 2 days ago. It's honestly my #1 rated game of the year. Graphically, gameplay wise and how the story develops. It is most definitely worth 60$

Basically in the first Far Cry you fight baddies on an island and dont get to free roam, pretty straightforward fun and challenging, ******** boss battles once in a while, and for some reason mutants that turn on their creators. Far Cry 2, havent played as much as the others but it takes place in Africa, you get malaria a lot and you find diamonds, open map, unlike first game. Far Cry 3 is an improvement but also a disappointment. The storyline is amazing, the graphics are amazing, expect for the render distance, on normal difficulty I find the game to be quite challenging, with animals being harder to kill then some people, the addition of all the weapons and safehouses is great and if you want to know more visit a review website like IGN.

TL;DR Its fun, there is no story from game to game, and it only improves from far cry 1.

multiplayer and co-op was a huge let down

Oh my bad, the multiplayer is a disappointment, its a Call of duty try hard, the most people on a regular server is around 5 or 6, and the system is hard to navigate. Stick with the campaign and you will have hours of fun.

Sounds pretty sweet...I'll consider getting it

I have yet to play FC3, but I'll be getting it shortly.

As for the "series", they are totally unrelated.

The first game has multiple versions, where you have some kind of bestial powers that let you track people's pheromones and gives you super strength and stuff. As for the story, I'm not quite sure, as I only played multiplayer with my friends.

The second game, is completely different. Instead of having superhuman powers, you're a bounty hunter person who goes to Africa to find and take out a person selling weapons to two different armies, calling himself the "Jackal" if I recall correctly. upon arriving, you get thrown right into the middle of the war and have to carry out missions for both sides until you work your way up to meet the Jackal. All of this happens while you have to constantly combat Malaria. That's right... they swapped out super powers, for Malaria. Wtf? Still an amazing game though.

For both games, the multiplayer map customization is absolutely spectacular, allowing you to make tons and tons of different maps in tons of different ways.

There was no super powers in Far Cry 1, da **** you talking about.

Ah, you're kinda right.

I'm thinking of Far Cry Instincts, which is like an expansion to it. It continues the story, but the main character has been experimented on with the same stuff the.. monsters? have been, or something.
User avatar #203 to #199 - Nullifier (12/12/2012) [-]
That sounds awesome..so what's the gameplay like?

It's a typical first person shooter. But you lose the crosshairs (normally), which means you gotta aim down the sights to be really accurate. Weapons will jam, and you gotta fix them before firing... extensive use will make them eventually blow up in your hands. When you get hurt you can heal yourself (storymode you have to pull out the bullet or whatever is hurting you when you're in a critical state, then you use a syringe to heal completely. In multiplayer you just go through the animation of fixing yourself up (which can be biting a bullet out of your hand or pushing it through your arm... it's fairly interesting)). You can set grass on fire with molotovs and blow up ammo crates (or get ammo from them), and use vehicles (ranging from cars and trucks with machine guns on them, to para-gliders and boats).

Farcry2 has amazing multiplayer that my friends and I still have LAN parties out of. Fun as hell.

The game is pretty much stand alone, the individual games don't seem to have anything to do with one another plot wise.
Do you want a plot summery of the game or just the general idea ?
User avatar #201 to #196 - Nullifier (12/12/2012) [-]
Either/or would be awesome

Far cry 3 is all about the main character, Jason Brody, trying to get his douche bag rich white friends back from the bat **** crazy, and awesome, bad guy Vaas, and Vaas' boss. The story is really great; it addresses Jason's descent into madness and slowing beginning to love killing. The game does a great job showing how he changes as a person. The graphics are beautiful, soundtrack is the best of this year, and shooting and stealth action handle extremely well and smoothly, making you feel like a badass with out over powering your character.
