I've lived in Texas my entire life and I've never run into a person that was genuinely racist. You probably had the misfortune to run into the .1% in the South that are still racist inbred hicks, but in my experience these poor excuses for humanity are few and far between.

South Texas here we don't really have that many racist assholes here, I won't say they don't exist here but there aren't many.

I've lived in the south most of my life, and while this is true to an extent, most of us are normal. I'm sure your dad ran into some racists, but the reason most people think people here as so stupid is because any time there is a news story, the reporter intentionally finds the most redneck, backwoods, podunk, deliverance person he can find.

We were visiting the Southeastern part of the place and people weren't AS racist as they were in Georgia, but if youre white, they were SUPER friendly.

But the really only discrimination I had seen in Alabama was my dad and I were in a movie and the concession stand guy hands us our popcorn and says "Have a nice show." A black couple behind us gets their stuff and says thank you and the concession stand guy acted normally and said "No problem".

But as they walked away he started scrubbing the counter sort of glaring at them.

I actually grew up in High Falls, if you've ever heard of it, black people hadn't even moved there at all until about 5 years ago, my family was probably the only non-racist in the area. Probably 10% of my school was black, and most of the teachers were racist as well, was...interesting to say the least.

No, they aren't true. The South is just like anywhere else, I would know, I've lived here my whole life. It's not like there is a line where it suddenly becomes "racist territory" or "hickland."
And nobody ever reports the South being racist and stupid. Who the fuck says that? In reality, the people the media reports to being like this are people who are isolated away from cities and still have their older mentalities. This includes people like farmers or people in small rural towns out in the fucking boonies. But the majority of those people aren't in the South anymore, they are out in the midwest where you can go 1,000 miles and not see a damn building.
