Can you still buy those? I thought that the dude who made those got sued out the ass by North Face and lost.
#151 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
Why do people honestly care?
"I bought a North Face hat."

"Oh really? You must go on so many adventures, poser."

"Actually, I bought it because it's cold this time of the year and I'd rather be warm when outside, also I found it affordable and comfortable."

Since when is The North Face affordable? D:
User avatar #154 to #152 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
I picked up some North Face gloves two years ago, they cost me no more than 20 euro.

Still lasting well, no rips or anything.

Of course they're pricier than cheap woolen stuff, but you really get a long use of them.
User avatar #161 to #154 - mylazy (12/11/2012) [-]
The reason they are so cheap is because it was 2 years ago, I think. I don't really follow prices, but I am pretty sure the prices rocketed last year. Don't quote me on this though, because I am probably wrong. I usually am.
User avatar #162 to #161 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
I really don't see prices for it rising dramatically.
Same manufacturing I'd assume.
It's possible, but there is no way they'd make a huge price hike for gloves.

5 Euros/dollars/Pounds/whatevers at most, more than likely.
User avatar #165 to #162 - mylazy (12/11/2012) [-]
I think it was because a lot of people started buying them, since they were of good quality. By macroeconomic laws, if the demand for a product rises, then more people will be willing to buy it at every prices. More people willing to buy the product leads to a change in equilibrium price...and not for the better of the consumers.
User avatar #166 to #165 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
Just checked the Irish site. Prices have actually gone up, apologies for thinking otherwise.
Not too drastically though. Gloves from 25 Euro upwards.
User avatar #170 to #166 - mylazy (12/11/2012) [-]
You were right on your amount in comment 162. They went up 5 euros from your comment 154.
User avatar #173 to #170 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
Well, either way, they're affordable if you want long lasting winter wear.

I'd probably have shelled out enough to buy more than 2 pairs of gloves if I just bought the basic ones that are sold everywhere. They tear so easy and hardly retain heat at all, not to mention get soaked through.
User avatar #157 to #154 - Kittehh (12/11/2012) [-]
Their gloves in the US range from $30 to $170... jdfiudjgi. Their jacket prices are high (to me anyways) also... It took begging my father for months to buy it for my birthday.
User avatar #160 to #157 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
They're costly for a reason. Well worth the money though.
I was more using the affordable thing as an example, but damn, US prices are pretty high.

You should try BlackDiamond.
Their Ski and Mountain line of clothing is pretty decent, and a little less costly than North Face.
User avatar #163 to #160 - Kittehh (12/11/2012) [-]
Oh yeah, I get why they're costly... but good grief. I see people wearing a different color Denali jacket every day. HOW DO THEY DO IT? Maybe I'm just that broke. :P I'll check that other place out! :) Thanks.
#164 to #163 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
No problem.

Piece of advice when searching for this kind of stuff.
Always check what fabric it's made from over all, that way you'll know if you're getting your money's worth.

How does wearing northface mean you go on adventures its a brand of clothing. thats like saying i see you're wearing DC, you must skateboard
User avatar #254 to #233 - nucularwar (12/12/2012) [-]
It's a good clothing brand for just like winter jackets and that sorta thing. I hike but I don't ONLY wear my good jackets when I hike.

What if I wear northface because I want to stay warm?
User avatar #81 to #67 - screamingdemon (12/11/2012) [-]
Then you could have just bought the same product for a third of the price.
User avatar #99 to #81 - srskate (12/11/2012) [-]
I know I get quality with northface. Plus I like getting them as gifts, too.
User avatar #103 to #99 - screamingdemon (12/11/2012) [-]
Yeah, but if you do 5 min of research you can find a equally high quality product or a better one for a third of the price, as I said. Buying their stuff is like throwing away money.
User avatar #105 to #103 - srskate (12/11/2012) [-]
Well how would I know its of better quality? There isn't really any standard for these things.
User avatar #108 to #105 - screamingdemon (12/11/2012) [-]
You can get info on fabrics with a google search. There's a bunch of forums who discuss these kind of things too.

Fair point there. Maybe he's with a unit training the local military/police authorities, and the flag symbolizes the intent to withdraw peacefully and let them take over?

Just saying his flag is not a "reverse flag patch" that is like ******* British or Australian camo and that unit patch centered on the hook and loop face pad on his right shoulder is not an authorized patch. What the hell is the point of having an IR flag with that camo and unit patch.

Don"t know if legit.

I was thinking the same thing
I first thought Special Forces because they occasionally wore desert tiger stripe camo
But I cant be 100% sure

i've always wondered, why do they wear it inverted?
#294 to #291 - ohemgeezus (12/12/2012) [-]
"The full-color U.S. flag cloth replica is worn so that the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward."
source:http://usmilitary.about.com/od/theorderlyroom/f/faqflag.htm

still doesn't make quite as much sense to me, though.
