I am offended by the fact that OP uses the tree as a Christian symbol.
On behalf of Germanic paganists throughout Europe: it's pagan symbolism. Thank you.
Let the red thumbs commence.

I agree OP... I am Pagan, I celebrate Solstice not Christmas yet I enjoy and participate in Christmas at work and with my family who in turn do the same for me, hell I am cooking xmas dinner for my family this year complete with a hand made gingerbread nativity scene centrepiece.
It is fun, enjoyable and harmless.

If you think that your country is intolerant then come to Sweden. There's a discussion going on about not letting people dress up as gingerbread men because it might be offensive against black people... yeah
i started out this Christmas season saying happy holidays got yelled at fro not saying marry Christmas, so i started saying it and got yelled at gain so now i just say have a nice day, I work retail.

This whole argument is especially bogus given that the Christmas tree has almost nothing to do with religion in the minds of most Americans. Of which the douche-bag atheistical Jews at American Atheists would whine about, it's easily representative of a secular symbol.
This traditional tree has merely become an icon of having consumer goods under it, not God or Jesus. Tell me, what do you think of when you imagine a Christmas tree? You imagine presents. Religion is an afterthought.

As a Christian, I recognize that none of the festivities related to Christmas necessarily relate to Jesus's birth, unless you see a display of that particular scene. Even the date was only a result of the Catholics taking over a pagan holiday and renaming it after Saint Nicolas. I realize all this, but choose to leave it as a representation of my celebration. If you want to celebrate your holiday on the same day too, go ahead, just don't tell me that I can't share my festivities and say "Merry Christmas".

All hail our great creator, the bringer of peace and justice, the one that makes everyone see the light.
Santa, may you live forever

I like the post very much. Even though I'm atheist, I think it's bullshit how people can't express their religion these days without fighting. I'm a senior in HS this year, and I work in the guidance office periodically. Up in there, they aren't allowed to put up a Christmas tree because of some butthurt Muslims.
But here's the kicker: One of the people that work in the office saw a pure black (fake, obviously) tree at Walmart. They picked it, along with a ton of red ornaments, up and brought it back to the school. They then decorated it with lights and the red ornaments, and now they have a "Spirit Tree", even though they just call it the Christmas tree.
It's a good way to get around a shitty system of religious expression.
