My mother just told that this movie is stupid and is for kids... well I started watching it at age 16, but that doesn't mean I love it less than others.

I've made a horrible mistake.

the movies were fine adaptation of the books, they obviously can't put in all the stuff that happened in the books, so all in all they weren't that bad... can't hold a candle to the books tho'

My problem with Goblet is that it's a massive book with a lot of detail in it, and they cut a lot out to make it a similar length to Philosophers Stone, so, to me, it felt almost like a huge montage at times.

not really... i watched the first part with my parents when it came out and even my grandma is still alive... i like to think that now they have their own money...

Oh believe me. I find it pointless when changes like that are made. I just felt the need to point out what the comments section sounded like. If they had simply stated it the way you did then it would have been fine. But all they did was insult Americans and used it as a springboard to call us stupid because of a title

Where'd you get those percentages, anonfag? From what I've noticed in the comments here it seems like there's a pretty decent amount of non-Americans on this site.

Look at it this way:
A philosopher is a person with an extensive knowledge of philosophy who uses this knowledge in their work, typically to solve philosophical problems.
Meanwhile, a sorcerer uses magic to solve magical problems.
Sorcerer sounds a heck of a lot more entertaining to me.

The only thing that slightly bothers me about it is that they call it the "Philosopher's Stone" in the movie, so even though I don't care that much about the changing itself... I just think it would be weird because wouldn't people think "Wait... But, it's the Sorcerer's Stone... Not Philosopher... What?"
Unless of course they did the sort of thing where they filmed the same thing twice but had them say "Sorcerer" instead... If they did that then I'll be 100% fine with it. If not, I just think it's a poor choice is all.

i watched the british version on netflix, and i wasn't sure how the american version was going to be but i lost all hope when i saw the ads and they were all fucking pretty boys who got really attractive women. the entire premise of the show is awkward teens trying to get laid and their wacky adventures and mtv ruined it. god damn it

Will was far too attractive in the american version and Jay looked like he had downs syndrome.
Not to mention they basically just provided a "lighter" version of the jokes for the whole episode, it was pathetic.

I saw like 10 minutes of the first episode of the American one on Thursday, it was the exactly as the same as the English one, just 100000x cringier.

I only saw the adverts and it made me not want to watch. Especially after i heard they made "Bus Wankers" into "Bus Turds".

Yup. Sorcerer's Stone isn't even that big of a change. It's just that "Philosopher" doesn't carry the same meaning in America and makes people think of Aristotle and people like that.
