The newer trilogy isn't as good as the original but it doesn't deserve anywhere near as much hate as it gets...

If George hadn't made the first 3 episodes people now would be bitching about not knowing the origin of Darth Vader, how the force works and all those other explanations that the prequels give.
It's a no win situation.
User avatar #14 to #7 - pseudobob **User deleted account** (12/09/2012) [-]
The force was explained as a spiritual element that came from a calm and focused mind, and Darth Vader was 'seduced by the dark side' which was really all you needed to know. But I agree, people would still be complaining.
User avatar #6 to #5 - mrgusti (12/09/2012) [-]
yes why not midi-chlorians
User avatar #11 to #6 - worldofwarcraftdog (12/09/2012) [-]
you know what? Okay. that's fine. while i cannot understand your point of view, i respect the fact that this is a art form and discussing how to view beauty is a topic i think we can all agree is something not worth arguing about. I prefer the wonder, mysticism, and fantasy aspect of star wars, and you are some how inherently different from me. I know Lucas had to expand the force and how it works( cause it was such a huge part of the universe, and really cool!), but i didnt like how this magical, mysterious aspect of my favorite story (at the time) became a simple micro-organism.
#19 to #11 - angelusprimus (12/09/2012) [-]
I think you missunderstood it.
See Force is STILL mystical energy field of life. Midiclorians are NOT the force, they are simply access to the force. Explanation why some get to have powers and others do not. Otherwise there would be no Jedi, because everyone would be able to reach the Force.
One reaches through them to touch the Force. They are not the Force itself.
Explanation is not much different then medieval belief that people with Fae blood can use magic. Magic is still magic, but there has to be something special about your blood to touch it.
This of force as the internet and midiclorians as the modem. Some don't have access to internet, some have it, but not that fast and fewest have access to broadband.

i understood that perfectly. the fact that That's the way they wanted to explain it pissed me off. like i said, i know some people will enjoy the prequels for different reasons, i dont need (what i call) the special effect bull **** that coats everything in the prequels. the Force in the older movies was a mysterious magical , mystical thing that surrounded the universe. now all you need is 20,000 midi-chlorians to unlock level 10 jedi badass mode. in the end of the argument, we both enjoy star wars for different reasons, and nothing will change that.
#23 to #21 - angelusprimus (12/09/2012) [-]
But... but... Force IS the mystical thing that surrounds the universe in prequels too...
User avatar #25 to #23 - worldofwarcraftdog (12/09/2012) [-]
lol, this discussion would take far more effort to actually go through effectively than im prepared to commit. basically because i know neither of us would change our minds. dont worry about me ;) ive got really good reasons why i hate george lucas's guts for what he did to star wars. i just dont feel like writing a research paper on FJ to try and argue with the internet......never works.
#26 to #25 - angelusprimus (12/09/2012) [-]
Ok THIS actually don't confuse me, this pisses me off.
"George Lucas did to Star Wars"
What George Lucas did to star wars was make them. And then, since its his, he has a right to make a 5 hour movie of himself with no pants and colored condom on going "buzzz buzzz" and call it star wars.
He didn't "rape your childhood" he didn't "destroy star wars" if you don't like new ones, ignore them. Keep the old ones. I have both original and remade versions.
But priviledged fanboys who think they "own" star wars or that Lucas owes them really go on my nerves.
#45 to #26 - worldofwarcraftdog (12/09/2012) [-]
lol i thought this was appropriate
#42 to #26 - worldofwarcraftdog (12/09/2012) [-]
lol see this is what i was trying to avoid. i didnt say he did any of that, but lets just say george lucas is writing a book right now that is titled :

"What could have been great"

just take a deep breath dude and remember youre on the internet

i also respect your opinion, but do not understand it i mean episode 1-3 have so much awesomeness, Qui-Gon Jinn Darth Maul, the storyline, and the bond between anakin and obi won, yoda, mace windu the rise of the emperoe the downfall of the republic it is just awesome
User avatar #20 to #15 - worldofwarcraftdog (12/09/2012) [-]
sry, i think George Lucas could have done a better job. although im not a RLM fan boy, i do agree a lot with what he says.
