If there was ever a way to read minds I highly doubt putting tinfoil on your head would interfere with it whatsoever. Especially since the part of your brain responsible for thought is the prefrontal cortex which is located in the frontal lobe.

Religion period. It's an obsolete method of explaining the unknown.
The Greeks believed Apollo brought up the sun, but now we know the Earth rotates to create the sunrise. The final unknowns are death and the origin of the universe, which is all religion has to offer; the traditional beliefs of what happens after you die and how we got here in the first place.
I wish I could live to see the day science explained both, but it won't be any time soon with Religion hindering progress.
