One thing I don't understand...How did the cat have the flashlight? Or was the scientist using the flashlight?

Cat has flashlight. "Science is like being in a dark room, and looking for a black cat using a flashlight."

Scientist has flashlight: "Science is like being in a dark room, and looking for a black cat, using a flashlight." ".... whilst using a flashlight." etc.
