What's the ******* point of dual-wielding a suppressed weapon? Subtlety is clearly out the window.
#7 to #3 - sodapops (12/03/2012) [-]
First point: It's fun and they are just goofing around.
Second point: you protect yours and others hearing by using supressor, not to mention that some people just don't like hearing gunfire even from far away (crazy buggers).
Third point: Supressors decrease recoil a lot and improves V0 and precision slightly. Their only drawback is that they are bulky and make the barrel longer.
#11 to #7 - fixxxer (12/03/2012) [-]
Not their only drawback. It also makes the weapon less powerful, because 99% of the time while using a suppressor you use low velocity rounds, which are less powerful. A lot of a gunshots sound is the bullet breaking the sound barrier.
User avatar #13 to #11 - sodapops (12/03/2012) [-]
Google "Freebore boost", then try again. Also, outside of videogames and movies I'd say 70-80% of suppressors are used with supersonic ammunition for the above reasons. Especially for hunting.
#41 to #13 - fixxxer (12/03/2012) [-]
Also, it all depends on the silencers construction. "The only silencers that reduce velocity are those made with wipes or mesh that touch the bullet. They also wear out quickly and degrade accuracy. Some guns are also equipped with a ported barrel that vents gases into the silencer. This ported barrel reduces velocity and noise" -Reduces velocity- read: less powerful. Again, don't be a cocksucker.

Try again, as if you're some firearms expert. I was giving information that was stated on Mythbusters by some military specialist they had on. No reason to be a cock sucker.

what country do you hunt in because in the USA silencers are illegal to use, i believe also to own but not sure on that
#22 to #16 - Venedlor (12/03/2012) [-]
In the US there is a way to legally own a suppressor. You have to submit for a class three license. That requires a background check as well as other things, the government also attaches a $200 tax to it as well. When you take it out, you have to have on you your paperwork and if someone else is caught with it and you are not there, even if they have the paperwork, they get arrested.
User avatar #20 to #16 - sodapops (12/03/2012) [-]
Sweden. In Finland they aren't even considered to be gun parts. A quick check says suppressors are legal to own and use in 39 states in USA. And by use I mean hunting and target practice, I imagine it's hard to get a "permit to carry" a silenced gun.
#24 to #20 - Venedlor (12/03/2012) [-]
I should have responded to you instead.
The class three license in the US is a federal license, however the states have the right to do what they think is right.

no such thing as a silencer, they are supressors. i've heard a supressor in person and they are pretty much still louder or just about as loud as an unsilenced .22
#23 to #17 - mrwoodcock (12/03/2012) [-]
Never shot with a suppressor, but I am shooting 0.22 as a sport's man, so I get what you are talking about.

Thanks for the info!!!!!
