I would say that there are better conversations to have. Physics for example is on the verge of possibly discovering the exact weight of the higgs. If we can thoroughly understand this one particle it's entirely possible we can break the universal speed limit. Instead we're going to argue about weather or not an invisible man exists or not though.

Sure, but I wouldn't call that a conversation we could have. Anyway, religion has and continues to try to damage the discoveries made by science. Even discoveries made in the 19th century such as evolution are still fought over by religous people. By now it should be being taught in schools to everyone.

Challenging religion is needed for the good of humanity, science, ethics and for building a better world.

Why can't we have a conversation on physics? It's one of the driving forces in human progress. I would say that you're right except I'm a religious person, and I somehow manage to not contradict sound scientific theories. I'm 99% certain that the universe was created by the big bang, and that we evolved. As soon as someone can produce some evidence other than, "It's in the bible" (Because it's fucking not, I've read it several times) I'll shift my paradigm.

I can't believe in all 2780 because they would contradict one another. Further, I'm a monotheist. Which narrows down the list considerably. Just because you believe in a higher power doesn't mean you believe in all of them. Not really how it works.

Why the Christian God? That's a bit of a long one, but I'll tell you why I disregard most polytheistic ideals. Old polytheistic gods were basically humans with divine power. I believe that if a God is necessary (which I do), then there need only be one God. In order for Him/Her/It to judge mankind, He would have to transcend human morality. The Christian God is three expressions in one being (Father/Son/Holy Spirit) akin to mind/body/soul. I believe that makes Him a complete God.

Then why not Gaia?

She's the personification of the Earth, she doesn't really fit the bill.

and Yahweh is simply the human derived form for the unknown. Simply making this the answer until we find the real answer, god is an overglorified "I don't know" but he comes with baggage that contradicts science at every turn.

True, however while they are technically the same deity they do have many points where they differ mythology wise. This is just to show the difference in culture from the greeks to the romans.

"Atheistic", and atheism is actually the refuting of a deity based on the evidence provided. So they can be atheistic if they do not believe in another god because the evidence is not there.

yea, but only in the barest sense of the word. Even though it could be considered atheistic behavior, it doesn't make them atheists

He never said it did though, he said when pertaining to the other gods that are not the one they believe is true, they have a very atheistic attitude. Which isn't false.
