Which is really creepy since humans effectively just started roaming the earth.

The saddest thing for me is whenever I look up at the night sky knowing I will never see what's out there.

I totally love this kind of stuff. Here's another one to blow your mind, the structure of the universe.
By the way: The Mpc/h in the pic is Parsec and 1 parsec = ~3,260,000 lightyears. And we see 375 from left to right...

Its almost unbelievable when i think about the sheer size of the whole universe, just how far millions of light years are and how big the biggest stars are, its hard to grasp yet fascinating.

It's a great big universe
And we're all really puny
We're just tiny little specks
About the size of Mickey Rooney.

Reminds me of spore. I made a planet recently called "Hey Kid - When This Plane Lands" and named the creature "Ur Fukt". They are flesh eating giraffes that roam in packs murdering everything in their way.

For everyone saying "Man, I feel insignificant now". Just remember that out of everything we've observed in our Universe so far, we're the only life that we know of. We're much more special than you could ever imagine..

We're a small diamond in an incredibly enormous void.

Nah there's no way. It's like scooping a cup of water from the ocean and claiming there's no fish because you didn't get any. I'm not exactly sure who said it but I read it somewhere and it holds very true. There's just too much stuff out there for it to just be us, they found evidence of water on Mars, a planet so close to us in comparison. We're just in an intergalactic game of hide and seek, and we are loosing very badly.

it makes you think what might be roaming around in another 225 million years...
