no, he's saying don't judge people so harshly. because if people were to see his tatoos and instantly be disgusted and insult him, then as soon as he stands in line with the army they respect him. it means you shouldn't judge someone by what they wear/how they look. it's more about what kind of person they are. you don't fucking know he could be a complete douchebag or he could be a really nice dude.

Ok, you don't deserve to be thanked just because you are part of the military.
You don't even deserve to be thanked if you survive, you could as easily remain on base doing paperwork when you do a tour.
You do deserve to be thanked if you do something that earns it, like putting yourself in harms way to save someone.

His uniform is Tiger stripe, as we call it, people. The tiger stripe uniform and ACUs look similar from afar, but on closer inspection, the patterns are much different.
