My dad went to school to be an engineer, but left because he didn't want to cripple his parents financially. My dad did his 15 years proudly, put himself through school, and now has made enough money so that I don't have to make the same decision he did. Everybody has a different story, so don't assume he joined because he outright wanted to kill people.

I agree with you on the government part, there are a lot of things that the US is doing that I dont agree with. Foreign affairs actually isn't on my radar as much as whats going on inside America. I think you need to get your own country out of debt and take care of your own people before running off to (some would say interfere) help with other countries and there problems.

They usually won't even look at applications if the words "Air Force" aren't listed under job experience. Weather monitoring, refueling, surveillance, cargo delivery, search and rescue, anything under the sun, really.

Because people really get pissed off when people stereotype people with tattoos and see them as criminals, but at the same time, will be kind to the exact same person if they're just wearing something different. My cousin joined because he thought he would help his local community by serving the army or something like that. I didn't say much but when he came back all he got from it was a dead friend and a PSP he bought overseas. The money is in a bank account and he's waiting on college right now but frankly he says he feels awkward being 'thanked' it was a job that payed him, not volunteer work. I can agree with him, so I really only thank WWII, Vietnam, Korea, and anything past that I wait for them to hear it, gauge their reaction, and react appropriately.

I'm going either Navy or Marines. My brother is Navy, my dad was Air Force, and my brother's friends are either Navy or Marines.
