I have a problem with 300, it's not that it isn't a bad idea, it's just, y'know, it's based on a historical event, yes, if it was just a film that was thought up then that's reasonable enough, but this actually happened so I don't think you can point out flaws in plotlines with that sort of thing

Only thing fake about 300 was that it was just the spartans it was many other greek city state soldiers. (Like Lacedaemonians) all though the spartans number was 300 (who all died)

It was truly the first war were greek banded together

Ephialtes wasn't actually a mutant. He was a greek farmer whom Xerxes approached, he lived near Thermopylae, and was bribed to tell them anyhting he knew. The reason they made him a mutant in the film was to show how brutal the spartans were, even towards their own children. I studied it in Classical studies this year.

on your last point fair enough, but the thing is is that's just not real spartan psychology, they were simply very judgmental people and he had an unnatural disability, and a Spartan wouldn't have been very compassionate to him and said 'Well ok, how about you just stand at the back and throw spears like a good spartan' he would've been very honest since Spartans just weren't very nice compassionate people

Also, Spartans considered combat that wasn't hand to hand to be of cowards, that's why you never see an archer in the movie, just hoplites.
