at least we can balance trapezoids on top of triangles
I'd like to see a European try that

This is a stupid, old argument. For the month/day/year thing, most of the world goes by the length of time, in order from smallest to biggest. The U.S. uses the smallest numbers used in measuring. 12 months, ~30 days, thousands of years. It makes sense to people who live here and to those who have always used it.
The units of measurement in the U.S. are more..stupid..but each one is based on actual measurements from various things that were important at times, in contrast with the rest of the world favoring a more standardized, consistent system which makes more sense in the long run.
An inch was the width of a man's thumb or three grains of barley placed end to end.
In ancient times, the foot was 11 and 1/42 inches. Today it is 12 inches, the length of the average man's foot.
A yard was originally the length of a man's belt or girdle, as it was called. Stuff like that.
Uses of each of these were relevant to laws in various times, and most countries adopted it with the French First Republic, though the U.S. has yet to adopt it officially, though it was sanctioned for use since 1866.

You're right on the Metric System. I'm an American and it makes so much more fucking sense
How Eurofags write their dates 27/11/12 Which you say as 27th of November 2012
How Amerifags write the date 11/27/12 Which we say November 27th 2012. We just write it how we say it.

well the reason that america won't do the mertic system, at the moment, isn't because we're too lazy to learn. It's because of the cost of converting all of our machines, tools, and text that us the customary system. Thats the reason it failed in the 70's, not because we're lazy.
Now you listen here boy.
I don't know what you're tryin to prove with all these here 'numbers' you gots on that screen. But I can tell you three letters you best not be messin with, and those are U, S, and A.

If you're not American, why complain about what we use? You have a superior and more practical system in place. So who cares
The American date system isn't based on the length of days, months, and years. It's based on the quantity of days, months, and years, from smallest to largest.
12 months
30-31 days (excluding February)
2012+ years
12 months
30-31 days (excluding February)
2012+ years
I still stand by the month/day/year. I say November 27, 2012, so it make sense to write it like 11/27/2012. I understand that with day/month/year, you can say it like 27th of November, 2012, but it makes more sense to say it the other way. Plus, one less word thrown in there.

It doesn't matter which is larger or has anything more. When it comes to sorting things that starts with a date, I prefer the american way. That way it sorts in a correct chronological order.
