I really have no ******* idea how the show was conceived. I mean, how can TOPS fight? More importantly, how can TOPS destroy the world? How can anyone do incredible evil with a toy that is nothing but a TOP?
User avatar #62 to #5 - ningyoaijin (11/27/2012) [-]
I think the idea is that the holy beasts empower the beyblade with magic that make them super strong, but really they could've done that with swords and **** anyway. It would have been cooler.

Actually, now that I think about it, beyblades made for absolutely amazing toys so maybe it was a marketing thing?

Well said. I don't know about you, but I'd definitely want a real "spinny top" that you could launch at a ******* boulder and reduce it to rubble, you know? The imaginary aspect of the real ones was part of the fun (and also it saved your parents a lot of reconstruction work). Really, what toys based on animated shows actually perform like they do in the shows? These were a lot more accurate and 'realistic' than most.

the first series of it didn't involve the possibility of destroying the world.
sadly whenever people mention Beyblades they talk about the world destruction etc..
i've only watched the first ever series of Beyblade, the one from 2001. there are two seasons which came after this one that actually seem good. but when the show revived in 2009 things seem to have gotten strange..

this pic brings back some good nostalgia c: i think i'll see if i find that ancient dvd i have with episode 7, 8 and 9 now.

Actually, in the first season, the plot was that they could control the world (or rather, the people in it) if they harnessed enough bit beasts -- and let's face it; when you have dozens of unbelievably powerful monsters at your disposal, that's not actually too farfetched, for once.
Also, last I checked, youtube has every episode. I've watched it there before. If they don't anymore, google certainly does. c:

i just found out i've only watched it as far as the end of their first championship. not anything about the american and european championships that they attend.
really considering watching it now c:

Come on dude, what could be cooler than plastic spinny things?
User avatar #67 to #6 - Dember (11/27/2012) [-]
Giant ******* dragons and phoenixes and tigers and unicorns made out of elements bound in raw energy inside those spinny tops, that's what.

Also in the show they weren't plastic, they were metal.
#28 to #6 - onehandwonder (11/27/2012) [-]
metal spinny things of course!
#15 to #6 - thepenname (11/27/2012) [-]
Plastic spinny things are rad as **** .

I'm not arguing the fun of playing with them, I'm questioning what type of drugs the creators of the show were doing when they came up with the idea, and contemplating asking where they got it.

Seriously, how can you enslave the world with a top?

It looks like you haven't seen this:

Me and my firneds used to play with them alot.. Well, this was when they wern't just the useless piece of plastic garbage you can buy now.. It was har plastic and/or metal cores, if you tried to stp it with your hand you sure would get a cut. You had to lay your whole and on the top of it, cuz it was flat.. We fought together, and sometimes they broke and flew over the whole room or garden, if we were outdoors. It was alot of fun :D

I cannot conceive how one might enslave the world with a toy.
User avatar #19 to #16 - xxxdemongirl (11/27/2012) [-]
that is enslaving people's minds. This show seems to think that tops have enough power to physically enslave peole
#20 to #19 - thepenname (11/27/2012) [-]
Because like ancient magics and **** .
User avatar #8 to #7 - woobumpercars (11/27/2012) [-]
Yeah, I suppose you're right, same goes for most kid's shows based around toys I suppose.
User avatar #9 to #8 - xxxdemongirl (11/27/2012) [-]
I've honestly never seen other ones...
User avatar #10 to #9 - woobumpercars (11/27/2012) [-]

User avatar #11 to #10 - xxxdemongirl (11/27/2012) [-]
They try to enslave the world with Yugioh? I just thought they used a holograph machine during duels... I haven't watched it, maybe that's why...
#17 to #11 - thepenname (11/27/2012) [-]
Well they actually represent real monsters from duh Shadow Realm or whatever and certain evil dudes wanted to release them on the world or something because they were assholes and **** .
User avatar #21 to #17 - xxxdemongirl (11/27/2012) [-]
That sorta makes sense for anime... like the cards are a gateway to the shadow realm. but being able to control the world with a top?
#22 to #21 - thepenname (11/27/2012) [-]
I 'unno, they like projected dragons and turtles and **** . I saw it a few times, but I don't remember the mythology behind the tops. There was some sort of supernatural significance behind the particular creatures featured on these little chops on top of the Beyblades.
User avatar #23 to #22 - xxxdemongirl (11/27/2012) [-]
I've seen it too. My husband watches it. They don't really explain things...
User avatar #69 to #23 - Dember (11/27/2012) [-]
Tyson's father (in what was pretty much his only cameo in the entire first season) actually explains that the "bit beasts" existed eons before the tops, but they were basically bound and dormant.
The "blades" were invented as a means to harness and utilize the beasts' power, and became a sort of 'sport', game or activity even to those without real beasts inside of theirs. From what I remember of it, at least.
