Actually, if you skip all the faith stuff, the Bible has a VERY good set of moral values layed out.

I didn't say they were ALL good.

The Bible was never meant to be taken literally, it's supposed to be open to interpretation.

To be honest, the reason I'm not a christian anymore is because I read the Bible.

I think a lot of people would agree.

The bible is a weird thing full of contractions, which I suppose makes sense seeming its several unrelated books sewn together. I bet its writers had very different intentions, some good, some bad.

All societies, cultures, have morals and ethics.

Morals that are well thought out and well reasoned are good morals in my book. just saying

If you can't decide what is wrong and what is right without god telling you, then you, my friend, are a sociopath.

But look at how you put it. Seeing as there is a divine being(God, in this case) and a promise of a better afterlife(Heaven) you should be a good person. But if you don't believe in a divine being(Atheists) then what's stopping you from murder, crimes, and what-not.
You're only good because you'll get into heaven.
Sounds like a rather selfish excuse to have "Morals and Ethics" to me.

Morals are instinctual, a species will not prosper if they endlessly kill each other. Which is why cannibalism is rare even in the animal kingdom.

I'm atheist and morals for me is to treat people the way I would like to be treated, so that anyone no matter creed, colour or religion has an enjoyable experience during their precious time on earth.
