So, basically everything you do is is morally superior to what a theist does because you don't believe in a god? I don't know how it works in your country, but over here in america, people believe that just believing in god is enough to get you into heaven, so it doesn't really factor into their everyday decisions. In reality, everyone is behaving like an atheist. Having a certain religious belief does not make you special. That's arrogant and hypocritical.
Are you joking? I don't know what magical fairy land you live in, but living as an Atheist in America is tough as shit. I get constantly harassed because of my beliefs, and am nicer than most Christians. But as soon as I make a friend, "Oh, it's like God brought us together, right?" "Actually, I don't believe in God." FUCK YOU. That is America in a nutshell.
I have no arrogance. I am a common man. I enjoy this site, and it helps me escape from my tougher life. You are just being rude because I shared my troubles to someone who claimed people like me were treated just like everyone else.
But you are. Better even, since you are defended by the government in all forms of media, education and social activity. To tell you the truth, the way you people behave online, combined with the way famous atheists behave, combined with the fact that the government shamelessly defends you, would probably make me hate you guys to. Of course, i already do, since you people like to ruin the internet.
defended by the government...
do you mean freedom of speech?
or are you referring to most educational facilities which are still catholic even though segregation of state and church?
you, my religious friend, are the most biased religious person i've met on funnyjunk..
(not zlamous because he's obviously a troll)

No i mean putting up a fucking nativity scene in a park. I mean how evolution is always shoved down the throat of every elementary, middle, and highschool student as an absolute fact. I mean uprooting centuries of traditional shit because it was once about jesus. I mean how you can spend all day talking shit about Christianity, but you get crucified when you say anything bad about atheism.
But enough of my opinionated chatter. I just had an idea.
But enough of my opinionated chatter. I just had an idea.
you're still extremely biased..
your religion isn't the only religion out there, many find Jesus Christ as a saint/rolemodel, but not as a prophet. It's a communal park, which means it should be pleasant for everyone, not just the religious.
if you want to put up a nativity scene, do it at a church or your own home.
On evolution, it's true that it's still just a theory, but it is still the best and most supported by science out there. If you want to disregard carbon dating, that's up to you, but your children should be thaught that there are other ways of looking at things.
The problem with bashing atheism... you'd need solid arguments to discredit someone properly... and i've found no 100% solid evidence that anything atheists believe in is false, since you'd have to prove God is real to prove us wrong..
I have no problems with catholics/muslims/protestants/jews/whatever, most of their religions are interesting enough and they are part of culture and history, but it should not stand in the way of technological progress...
and teaching people to disregard imperical evidence, is standing in the way of progress.

Nothing stands in the way of technological progress. Just because some nutjobs insult it doesn't mean that we're just going to bring it all to a screeching halt.
I'm not bashing atheism, i'm not even bashing regular atheists. I'm bashing internet atheists. The self righteous, 14 year old douchebags that tend to be everywhere on the internet. Say one thing negative about atheists, and suddenly 3 people pop out of nowhere to "correct" you.
Evolution is a rickety idea patched together by archeologists to explain how life got on earth. While it may have its share of evidence to support it, religions also have their share of evidence. Mostly rooted in human history. I don't have a problem with evolution. Just admit that it too, is faith based, and we wouldn't have a problem.
With the nativity scene, this is what i mean when i say tradition. Many parks would put up nativity scenes every year during christmas, and i didn't see many buddhists complaining. But now, you can't do that anymore because it's "insensitive".
And yes. I am extremely biased. Now, when you're done with your tl:dr response, you wanna hear my idea? It's a good one.

just because technological progress can't be stopped, doesn't mean nothing is standing in it's way... religion has slowed science on numerous occasions, if you really need me to elaborate, i will, but i think you're smart enough to fill in the blancs here.
don't think atheists are the only ones holding on to internet retards... remember zlamous? let's not talk about other religious fanatics regularly highlighting the news with their outrageous protests...
evolution is a theory that 'evolved' (heh) from being able to see microscopic particles, from KNOWING! that the world is older than 2000 years. It is faith based, yet needs less faith, because it has more evidence and less counter-evidence.
we live in a time where everything is close at hand and man is more and more offended by everything and anything, add cultural diversity in the mix and certain traditions are bound to be broken...

i know religious people like their traditions, i do too...
i just think it's extremely biased to place your own traditions above the others...
or should we celebrate Gudi Padwa every year too because it's hindu tradition?
i'm done talking, tell me your idea...

You just created the biggest strawman I've ever seen. Then proceeded to trounce your own strawman like you were in a heavy weight title fight.
"I don't know how it works in your country, but over here in america, people believe that just believing in god is enough to get you into heaven, so it doesn't really factor into their everyday decisions. In reality, everyone is behaving like an atheist."
I did like the sense of humor you brought to the table though

Yes I do. And this person posted their response to the question that was asked in the content. Then you made out like they were addressing every theist in the world. She obviously wasn't, and was just giving a response the the girl in the content (or anyone who would ask that question) That's a strawman argument.

Nope. They clearly addressed the person (and the people that would ask the question in general) in the content. The person in the content made it clear that they were only good do to fear of punishment. Therefore the argument argument is completely sound. They in no way made any attempt to address the theistic population at all, only the person in the content. There was no implication in the comment either (seriously she addresses the person in the content right there with the "DUMB BIOTCH"), only your baseless assumption. And assumptions can easily lead to strawmans. Unfortunately in this case your assumption was wrong and you created a strawman.
Tl:dr You're wrong

So your baseless assumption was based on... another baseless assumption?
"the fact that she recited a common belief in the internet atheist community"
This gave me a good laugh but I can't seriously believe you tried using it in an argument. I mean there's just so much wrong with it... For instance I'm pretty sure that's not even a real thing. Also, if it is I'd love to see some documentation with these "internet atheist beliefs" otherwise I'll just assume they're something you just made up with no real merit. I mean really, I'm the one who needs to come on?

The bible says that believing in God is enough to get you into heaven, regardless of what you do, you will always be forgiven as longs as you're a believer. And it's a fair point, if you do something because you're scared, it's not as moral as if you do something out of kindness. That's why we apreciate voluenteers and not people doing community service.
