I got a 2002 Ford Focus with under 10k miles, no defects (but had window stickers,) for less than $2k. It's possible to get a decent car for that amount of cash, you just need to look and be willing to compromise.

Under 2k. That's great, but the difference between a decent Mac and a decent Windows computer was about half that last time I checked.

Getting an equal laptop is impossible, but an equal desktop is difficult, but possible if you get stuff on sale (Cyber-Monday is coming up.)

Performance wise, as long as you don't try to game or anything, they can be equal. Besides, most people here just use it to surf the internet. I don't really have a preference.

I'd prefer a PC BECAUSE I use it to game. Honestly, I have nothing against OSX, but I refuse to by a Mac because of how expensive they are. I would much rather go through the trouble of installing the OS on to a non-Apple PC for a fraction of the cost..
