Lol. I just remember someone who worked in a welfare office was a fellow student in a class i was in, who showed the class a demonstration about the amounts people get...and it actually wasn't a lot. However, I'm sure 1.) different states have different amounts and 2.) some people know how to work the system.

I think it's actually less to do with welfare and more to do with tax breaks (People getting 8k per kid when they only pay 2k in taxes...etc)

You do get more money from welfare, the average for a family of 4 is about 500/month. However that's still not enough to live on, so there's no way you can get out of poverty very easily from welfare

it's not, and they don't give it to you in cash anyway, you get most of it in food stamps. People do abuse the system, yes, but there's literally no possible way to create a system that humans won't abuse.
