Save all the world!
Not OC.
So, today, I was at a conference
and I saw something I need to share
with you guys, because it rocks:
This woman is a video game designer
and she has an awesome theory
My goal, for the next decade is to make it as
easy to save the world in real lite as it is in online games
At the moment, we spend 3 billion
hours on average playing online games
According to my research, I believe that if we want to
survive the next century on this planet, we need to
increase that number to
Why is that? Well, she believes that us,
gamers, have rel incredible talents.
But more importantly, we have spent
a lot of time developing these talents.
Solar, we' spent
5. 93 million years
playing
The average person today, in a strong
gamer culture, will have spent:
lit,
10, 000 hours gaming
by cage fl]
For children in the USA, is the exact
amount of time you will spent in school from tth grade
to highschool graduation if you have perfect attendance.
I guess you see why it is such a big
deal by now. But what do we learn?
Well, this is when the rel talents come
into play (if I might say):
Basically, what she is saying is that
we are very productive when given
epic goals (saving the world by killing
dragons, for example), we always
believe we can do it and we are very
good at forming teams to achieve "
Now, imagine if you could be in real
life as you are in a game such as Wow.
This is what she is trying to create and
I think it needs to be known about.

while i admire this woman's ambition, she doesn't understand jack about real gamer's motivation and she isn't gonna achieve anything worthwhile.

This theory is great until you take in account that you can die in real life
That way, we could call other people faggots and niggers in public

My whole class is full of gamers, and we all thought this was bullshit when we watched it. The reason you're so optimistic in games is because games are supposed to be beaten, you know from the start that it's not impossible. In real life you can't always think that everything is possible right away.
We're not productive because of an "epic goal", we're productive because the gameplay is fun.
If you've ever been in an online match you know that not everyone is "very good at forming teams" and there are plenty of gamers who would never be able to do that in real life.
Games are made to be fun and addictive, real life is not.
This is so fucking stupid.

The reason this doesn't work in life already is because for the most part reality sucks.
Sure, everything considered, life is like a hardcore RPG.
Stats are given by chance and while some are lucky most of us start at 0.
You can improve your skills with days, weeks, months and efforts.
It's entirely possible for the average joe to go from -2 in art to level 72, but it's painstaking
And society today is so corrupt the economy is crap, so most of us flounder about just trying to make a living
Many of us have dreams but the difficulty level is practically on Deity, Legendary or Master
All this being said her vision is very possible however,
to achieve it people need to be allowed to realistically be able to reach their dreams or goals
Basically creating a better world, and better people, is the only way.
So in the end it has nothing to do with video games, just some of the mentalities

510 comments and no one got the fucking point she was making?!? SERIOUSLY?!? She didn't say you should turn life into a videogame, you mouthbreathers! She suggested adding rewards and achievements to everyday stuff like school and work to motivate people to do it better. Like getting congratulated for never being late for school for a month or a scoreboard at work to see who the 10 best employees are. These things are as small and meaningless as achievements, but would still make people happier and more efficient.
If you fishsticks would stop thinking with your asses for 10 seconds, you'd realise she didn't say anything about shooting people, saving the world or killing exploding turtle dicks.

That's great until one kid gets mad and starts calling everyone a fag and saying he fucked their mothers.
