Geez, are you guys retarded? German is not "basically English with an accent". If you talked to a German person, you would have a hard time understanding. It's more similar to Scandinavian languages, as they all started out as basically the same language.

Its amazing how i don't know a single word of german, but i thought this was in english until i did a double take.

I'm german and i  have to say that it's harder for me to understand americans than british people .   
Maybe it's because the german pronunciation is really  choppy i guess ...   
I believe  the americans (escpecially the southern ones) don't use their tongue as much as the german or brits do ...(only my opinion)     
   
 I can say that  i prefer speaking english (even if i do that many mistakes like in this text)    
   
It's sounds way more    graceful     than the german  dumb-farmer-sounding-language.

An advent calender is a calender that starts at 1 december and has a piece of candy hidden in every day, so that every day till cristmas you have a piece of candy , in this case beer
