Chances are, you've been hit by lighting multiple times while in flight.
Thanks to the fact that planes are made of aluminum, all surges of electrical power coming from a source such as lightning are safely channeled out through static wicks on the wings.

If your plane were to be hit by lightning, you would here a slight thud, a possibly the slightest of jolts.

You have no idea how safe planes are.

This is your pilot speaking. That lightning was nothing to worry about, we just used it to power up our flux capacitor.

when i was a kid my father told me to not be afraid of thunder and lightning because its just god bowling.
Then lighting stuck the tree next to my room window and i asked" we're not the pins are we?"

All you need is some No. 8 wire and it'll bounce right off.

MFW the first thing they teach new pilots is how lightning doesnt do **** to aircraft but the pilots all pretend it does to scare passengers with movies etc.

Wow, how nostalgic.. This was taken a couple weeks ago at Brisbane international airport, Australia.

How do I know this? It was taken by a friend during one of the more violent lightning storms we've seen in a while.

Actually every plane is struck by lightning about once a year. As long as it's not positive lightning it's all cool.

The pilot once told us all to buckle up, and then we hit huggeee turbulence. Everyone in the plane screamed and we dropped a ton. After we got through it he was like, I toldddd you to buckle up your seatbelts. Then when we landed he told us sorry about the turbulence, he dropped his peanuts and had bent over to pick them up and hit the steering.
