inb4 red thumbs but... don't soldiers get told how long their tours are going to last and ****? Therefore they're going to know what holidays they're going to miss and stuff.

Plus, I'd imagine that American soldiers get to celebrate thanksgiving regardless of being in the middle east. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Finally, don't people who work over holidays get paid more during thanksgiving? Theres something to be thankful for right there (again, correct me if I'm wrong, not American so I wouldn't know)

im guessing its along the lines of what happened at hostess. from what ive heard they are losing hours because the company doesnt have enough money to pay all of the people theyre hiring but they need people to work on black friday because its the biggest sale day of the year. black friday isnt a holiday so they most likely wont get holiday pay. im not sure if walmart is unionized, highly doubt it, but either way it seems like people feeling entitled when someones already giving them a job and some benefits. ive worked black friday and it really isnt that bad as long as everyone is actually doing there job well and theres a good plan

The reason is Hostess cut benefits for all of its employess about 5 times, the th CEO tripled his salary while his company was falling into ruin. Thats why they are striking.

The walmart strike is because of ****** wages and managers (you make more money as a pfc in the army if you just included Vet benefits, let alone the free room and board. Not to say the jobs are comparable-- its a hell of a lot less fun being a solider under fire than a bored wal-mart employee.

Yes, soldiers are told how long they're on tour. Regardless, there isn't much special for celebrating, even if they do. And lastly, this isn't complaining for soldiers, it's showing that they deal with missing holidays without complaining while having to be in a ****** place thousands of miles from their families with nothing to go home to at the end of the day; so a Wal-Mart worker should shut the **** up basically.

That's cute, try living in a country where you're *forced* to serve in the army.

Because you chose to be in the military knowing that you'd be a few thousand miles from your family, they're a car drive home...

It's also an entry level job. Some people have no choice but to work at Wal-Mart until they get something better.

Comparing every workplace grievance to those of the military is how fascists keep the populace in check. Instead of getting pissed at Wal Mart employees, get pissed at the politicians that send good people to die in the desert for the interests of Exxon Mobil.

It's fine man. Till I became affiliated with the Marines nearly anything wearing a digital uniform was a "Soldier". Common misconception. Have a nice day man.

soldier is a job for the less (not) educated. Have money and you can take off as many days as you want and hire ex-soldiers if you want protection from the plebs.
