Who the **** is stupid enough to agree with this **** ?

People who believe artists should just have an average pay and who believe this **** are communists.
Why should people have the right to steal from artists, musicians, actors and the whole movie industry? I know some people say that copying isnt stealing. But them not getting payed for their products is just as bad.

America (I'm not american) was build on freedom, one of these kinds of freedom is freedom of property. The state and other people are not allowed to take what is rightfully yours.
This freedom is what made USA rich. People wanted to invest time and money in things, because they knew people couldnt come and steal it. Freedom of property is what started the industrial revolution in England back in the days. If you allow piracy, the quality of the entertainment industry will decrease.

Yes I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of information, but that is not what piracy is about - piracy is about people who dont want pay for **** .

Pirate Bay is one of the few sites that help promote artists, not just allow their **** to be torrented. Not too long ago, they had an add for a song that talked about D.I.Y, or Do It Yourself. Some artists choose to let their stuff be torrented freely, therefor, getting their image out more. The song talks about letting people download your music, then they'll talk about it, if they like it, and will invest in your music. If they don't like it, they'll likely delete it, so no harm done.

I for one, am a college student who loves music. It's my minor, infact. For obvious reasons, I don't have money to just shovel out for CDs and stuff like that, so I like to torrent them to check them out first. Rather than being an 'immoral pirate', I'm being a 'careful consumer'. Testing an item before actually purchasing it.

While you do make a good point, that America was built on Freedoms, but it was also built on opportunities. Many artists do not get recognized by huge record companies, so they don't get signed, or their CDs don't get published. However, when a site like Pirate Bay shows their support for such an artist, millions of people get to see it. And if these people see it, and they like it, they'll tell their friends, and then they'll tell their friends, and so on and so forth. In another way of speaking, it's Free Marketing.

I respect your opinion, truly. I just wanted to show you a different side of thinking, in any case that you would like other things to improve your own argument in the future, perhaps.

It should be artists own choice whether they want their products to be free for download.
You say you can't afford buying lots of CDs, but you can buy a subscription for online music services. I pay less than 10$ each month in order to get acces to ~20 million tracks of music.

In a few cases, it is the artist's choice. Some artist's allow their stuff to be torrented, as I mentioned above. And you see, I don't need to go through 20,000,000 tracks to find what I want, and I don't need to subscribe to a service.

For example... I can hear about a CD through a friend, torrent that CD or a song from it, listen to it, then purchase the CD myself, for a one time fee. In the short run, it may be more expensive, but in the long run, it saves me time, and money.

So in the end, I listen, I like, I buy. And sure, you could argue that YouTube is another way to listen to a song, but there are some cases where I'd like the song to listen to on the go. As I don't own a smart phone, I have to download it and put the song onto my phone to listen to it wherever I may be.

There are some people who pirate things for their own personal gain, but that's just a few people. I like to think that this community isn't exactly malicious, but some people take advantage of that. But as we all know, there are people like that everywhere, and in every situation.

I'm wondering that myself. I tend to be more awake when I only sleep for five hours anyways. So I guess all's well.

I hate that your comment is being voted down so much, because honestly, I agree with what you are saying. (Not saying that I haven't pirated something or another in my lifetime...but...) Piracy is mostly people just being lazy and trying to get out of paying for things. People just don't want to admit that you're right.
User avatar #98 to #91 - fredeminator (11/21/2012) [-]
Ive pirated things aswel and I know that 95% of my friends have. None of us have done it because of freedom of speach and information. The ONLY reason is money. People should not justicy piracy with ideology.

Tried, but can't. I can get the tip of the penis into my butt, but it gets stiff which makes it impossible.

Also, thanks for sharing your opinion, very clever.

1.) As for you saying that they don't get paid, please refer to this comment: funnyjunk.com/funny_pictures/4248415/Anyone+want+a+gift+card/64#64

2.) No one says that they shouldn't get paid more than most of us. They work hard at what they do, so why not get paid for it.

3.) Piracy isn't only based on the fact that people want **** for free. Maybe people want to try a product without paying for it. If they truly like it, then they will pay for it. I'm sure that people on the internet may not like this, but I torrented on of the Black Veil Brides albums a while back just to say that I gave it a shot before I started bagging on it. I ended up liking it and buying all their albums.
I did the same thing with MLP.
I torrented the first few episodes and gave them a shot. I'm now a brony.
Don't think that all pirates are bad just because they choose not to pay.
User avatar #94 to #85 - fredeminator (11/21/2012) [-]
1. I think that would be an alright idea, since piracy can't be prevented. Sort of a public service agreement, but managing this would be impossible.

2. Some people say artists, actors etc. are greedy people and say they earn way too much. They say this to justify not paying for their products.

3. Some people will pay when they find out its a good product but most people wont.

I'm interested to see what you have to say
#84 to #82 - flobberbuckett (11/21/2012) [-]
>the quality of the entertainment industry will decrease

that's exactly what people said about the radio and MP3 players and all they did was improve it.
#90 to #84 - fredeminator (11/21/2012) [-]
Take the money out of the industry and the things produced will not be as good.

When it comes to movies this is a fact.
I might not necessarily be true when it comes to music.

you sir do not seem to like the word free.
User avatar #89 to #83 - fredeminator (11/21/2012) [-]
That depends on who is free. Its hypocrisy to say that people who download data illegally should be free to do so - and at the same time say that people who produce things should not be free to keep what they own and have the properties for.
