I don't hate them, hell I'm actually going to university for police studies, in two years or so I'm gonna be a police man.

I'm not gonna jump into the debate below, just gonna say that it's better to have the option to call 911 and have armed men show up to try their hand at upholding the law, than to just let anyone who thinks they hold power over you do whatever they want.

Like I said though I know very little on the matter as I'm from a relatively comfortable background, never around drugs, weapons, gangs, etc. I'm just wondering why the police is always hated on...

I think those statistics are a bit exuberant... However I understand that there are corrupt workers on the police force, however there is corruption in nearly every society, workplace, (one big example is the government with many corrupt politicians) etc all around the world and so corruption can't be the only reason why some people have such negative views on the police. There are also some workers in the police who put their all into their job, having seen or experienced the hardships of life around them, driving them forward to do their job correctly and efficiently. Surely they all can't be thrown into the same boat together, the corrupt and the good.

However people in today's world generalise too much, for example everybody who is catholic must automatically disregard other religions, and go about their wreaking havoc and mayhem. Sure some deranged people may go about causing harm this way, however the main body of people with catholic frown upon those imbeciles. Another good example would be people from an Indian, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc background all are terrorists, and the people who say these things, when faced with a situation where by only a person from those origins can help them, will almost always put aside the racial stereotypes and instead accept their help i.e. surgery, if the surgeon is Asian, and the patient hates Asians, he will forgot his racism temporarily and instead receive surgery.

Whilst I have gone severely off track, and wasted much of the time, I will quickly conclude with;
Don't judge the majority by the minority.

It is the idea that if you break the law a "force" will punish/stop you that holds society together. Even though police isn't effective most times the idea that someone will hold you accountable for your actions is enough in most cases.

If people realised the police or any other law enforcement isnt strong enough to actually dictate things the world would be chaos. An example would be the rebelions happening in the middle east and africa in wich alot of countrys are breaking free from dictatorship all by themselves. Now what you must understand is that just because there is someone to enforce the law it doesn't mean we should overthrow them since that would mean abolishing democracy and what not but still what i wrote here is in some extent the bigger version of "people shouldnt be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.

Forgot to mension that i dont think the rebelions in middle east are for bad i just used them as an example. And just to sum it up (again) i guess what i tried to say besides that governments should be afraid of what their people can do IS that we choose to believe that the police is a force that punishes people for their crimes because otherwise we would not only realise that sometimes the police is uneffective but also that if we dont believe that there is something to punish us for the bad things we would we would live as i said before in chaos.

Well according to stereotypes of american cops, they're mentaly challenged. On this pic you can see two police car parked on "disabled persons only" places. Things at their respective places, i found this funny.

It's not that American cops are stupid, but... Oh what the fuck am I saying. This is a picture I took of two cop cars from my home town. The wreck apparently occurred early in the morning and they were the only two cars on the road.
