I don't understand how people drive around with their blinker on for like 5 miles before noticing.
Like are you that much of a dumbass?

It makes an easily heard 'ticking' noise as well.

Not all cars. The tick in my car is very faint. You can barely hear it when there's no music playing.

Fair enough I find mine quite distinct, even with music. And the only time it is hard to see is if I'm driving with the sun in my face, even with the blind the windscreen goes white

Which is going to be heard over the music I am listening to?

Honestly, when I forget it, I am embarrassed - but for the most part, everyone has done or will do it eventually.

well if you're not paying attention to lights on the dashboard, you shouldn't own a car

It rarely happens to me, but when you are concentrating on driving to get somewhere, it can be very easy. especially in Britain as there are about a million rounderabouts and junctions every mile.

So, I'm riding home the other night, and come to this section of road I'm about to horribly describe. Skip to tl:dr now.

Basically, it's a two lane affair, with a three lan on the other side for left turns. Ther'es a turn off just before the light for people to take a right because the oncoming from that is at an odd angle, intersecting at about 35-45 degrees. I have to take the little right side turnoff. Lo and behold, oncoming, at oh-dark-thirty. So, I watch this car. According to what I can tell, this guy is just gonna go straight through the light, not take his left. He has no indicator, so, I'm like, cool, and proceed through my turn (I was also at a stop sign). However, this nig-nog with his no indication, takes the left, at about 10-15 mph over the area speed limit. In doing so, he basically misses my front right by a few mere inches after I slam on the brakes during my double check.

TL;DR:

Jackass not using his indicator almost killed me.

A police officer only has the power to enforce rules through tickets and arresting. A court date or pre-trial hearing would be had if needed. Those moments in court would decide whether or not the punishment fit the crime or not. So quite frankly, no, I don't think you could get away with that as a cop.

Unless the accused were black.

Cops have to meet a Ticket Quota.
