Cool isn't some objective thing that can be measured. It's a subjective thing. Most 13 year olds think guns are cool, I can't think of a single child I've ever met who would say the same about Golf. I bet you could find some adults who think golf is pretty cool, though.

Getting shot is painful, Surviving it is something few people experience. Rarities are enjoyed for a reason: they aren't the norm. Just because some girl was shot doesn't mean she wanted to be popular - I would bet you she(rather her parents) probably even turned down a dozen opportunities. Some people don't want popularity.

Idolizing thugs isn't an American thing. It's not even a Human thing. It's a fucking Animal thing. Do you think the Alpha dog, leader of the wolf pack, head of the Monkeys, Leader of tribes,etc are 'nice' animals?
