We had exchange students from Japan come to our school a few weeks ago, the aim of the game was to get them to talk about the American 'Election' as much as possible...

From what I have gleaned from Japanese translations, there is no 'r'/'l' distinction for things so if you don't already know, it's like a 50/50 guess. I can only imagine that to be how non-official game translations can end up with character names like "Kraus" and "Cless" and similar things. But, not having any actual knowledge, I in no way intend for my guesses and hypotheses to be stated as fact. :)

It's true. I take Japanese classes. Although, when taking a foreign word and turning it into a Japanese one (Say, "Plum"), they only turn "L"s into "R"s. There are Rs in Japanese (Ra, Ri, Ru, Re, and Ro), but no Ls. Ls get turned into Rs. So "Plum" becomes "Prum," "Clam" becomes "Cram," and "Plural" becomes "Prurar." of course, you can't end a word in japanese with any consonant other than "n", but that's a whole 'nother lesson altogether.

actually if they spell it 'pirrows' then they will be forced by asian stereotypes to say 'pillows'... so this is actually correct
