The only new show I actually enjoyed was Pawn Stars. You get to learn the history of the items, and a lot of the items are pretty interesting too.
The rest, like stuff about loggers and alligator hunters, is just a complete waste of a good television slot.
And in the Hitler age, at least you were able to learn an assload of cool shit about WWII.
And they do still show some good history shows on there that are actually about history. I also liked when they showed "The Universe". Now watching that stuff made you feel smart. But now they have "Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman" opn the Science Channel, so I am happy.
