>she goes to the menue and turns on the subtitles
>i ask why
>she starts crying and shows me she's got a cochlear implant
>she's almost entirely deaf
>she didn't tell me because she didn't want to scare me or drive me off
>realize she just sat through dozens of movies unable to fully hear or enjoy them just for me
